At our age, we have lots of stories. Some are funny, and some we want to forget. So how do we know when it’s okay to share the messy parts with our grandchildren? I once heard a grandparent say there is no message without a mess and no testimony without a test. And I agree as a Christian you’ve experienced how God redeemed your mistakes to help you grow stronger.
So at times, go ahead and share your messy stories. And as you reveal the mess and steps you’ve made in God’s grace to forgive, you’re infusing a huge measure of hope into your grandchild. Our grandkids are navigating a complicated world and your honesty will help them trust our loving and merciful God. Grandparents have an important spiritual role to play.
