Organize Group Study
Grandparenting Matters is a six-session small group study or seminar your church can host to help grandparents learn key principles and embrace their biblical role. It is designed to inform, equip, and inspire participants to become more intentional about grandparenting and build a spiritual legacy with their families.
Grandparenting Matters is available in three different formats: In-Person, Virtual, and On-Demand. More details on each of these formats can be found below on our Legacy Coalition Seminar page. You will find small group facilitator tips and resources lower on this page.
STUDY: Grandparenting Matters
The following is the small group video version of Grandparenting Matters. This timed outline is designed for 6 weeks, 90 minutes each week. You can certainly adapt it to your church setting. Should you use the video small group study look at each session ahead of time with these notes to get familiar with the session and make any changes if needed.
Beforehand…Small Group Video Study…Grandparenting Matters
- Lay out resource books, provide your contact information, and workbooks/pens/payment envelope.
- Be ready to encourage couples to each have their own workbook as each spouse will be more involved. (This is not required.)
- Set up tables, round recommended, with no more than 6 people at each table (try very hard not to set up the chairs in a classroom format).
- Place blank sheets at each spot to record:
- Names of grandparents
- Names of greats/grandkids with first names only and ages, including anyone that is expecting new grandkids.
- Type up all these sheets with their names, etc., and combine them into one sheet. Place copies of the combined sheet on the tables the following week to pray for the grandkids represented at that particular table.
