If you would like to do something special for your grandchildren besides taking them to an amusement park or a tour of historic monuments, come to this session and learn how to plan and carry out “Camp Grammy and Papa,” an unforgettable immersion experience for your grandchildren that will teach family values, history, identity and important spiritual life lessons. John and Jacque will help you create a unique experience for your grandkids that they will remember for the rest of their lives. Come expecting to be inspired, get some great ideas and learn how to make the most of the time you have with your grandchildren while they are young.
We grandparents are far too important to allow ourselves to become the equivalent of an unpaid babysitter. We must seize every moment God gives us with our grandchildren to help God mold them into the men and women He created them to be and to reach their purpose and destiny. Yes, there are times when we will be called upon to care of the grandkids for a while, but we can have a spiritual impact that is worth far more than the value of a babysitter.
Did you know that God is the creator of the developmental process of our grandchildren? While giving an overview of God’s grand developmental design for childhood and adolescence, Denise will be focusing this seminar on the spiritual development of children and youth from birth to adolescence. Strategies for influencing the spiritual life of our grandchildren in developmentally appropriate ways will be offered. Celebrating God’s gifts at every age and stage will be encouraged!
If your grandkids live far away from you, this session will provide you with some encouragement and a good selection of tried-and-tested ideas for staying connected across the miles. You’ll also have an opportunity to share your experience as a long-distance grandparent and interact with other grandparents who are on the same journey. Wayne is the author of the new book Long Distance Grandparenting (Bethany House). He and his wife Marci are themselves long-distance grandparents (all five of their grandchildren live hundreds of miles away) and they would love to hear your good ideas.
Our kids and grandkids are visually, verbally, and ideologically assaulted on a daily basis by our sexually broken culture. But what they are being sold is more than a new morality. They are being sold a complete worldview, especially a wrong idea of who they are as human beings. In this session, John will trace the major ideas of the sexual revolution, how they impact today’s culture, and how you can point the next generation to God’s beautiful design for His image bearers.
In this pre-conference session, Hal will help you to help you develop a vision for what God calls you to be and to pursue during your retirement years. What shapes your convictions of how to view your retirement years? How much does culture shape your views? How much do the Scriptures shape your views? How much does our Christian community shape your views? This seminar will help you to refine and refocus your vision for all that God calls you to be “for such a time as this.”
Jean Thomason (AKA “Miss Patty Cake") shares her insights gleaned from more than twenty-five years in preschool children’s ministry. This session will affirm your belief that God has put a child or children in your life on purpose. Using Scripture, humorous anecdotes, and insightful research, Jean will help equip you with the skills necessary to influence and guide your young grandchildren as they grow to be all God has created them to be.
Come learn from other grandparents who have started a ministry to grandparents in their home churches. You will learn the next best steps to take as well as the possible challenges to overcome. Not only will you leave motivated and equipped with practical ideas, but you will connect with ministry leaders who will be available to help you get started. This workshop will consist of testimonies and teaching as well as a panel discussion to answer all your questions.
The opportunity to have a spiritual impact on children extends far beyond your own grandchildren. We live in a time where many young boys and girls do not have grandparents close to where they live. If we believe our role as a grandparent is important to God, we must seize the opportunity to “spiritually grandparent” the friends of our grandkids as well as young boys and girls in our churches and communities.
